Andrea Meza of Mexico crowned as Miss Universe 2020

Manila, Philippines – Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned as a new Miss Universe in the 69th annual Miss Universe held in Hollywood, Florida on May 16, 2021.

The 2020 Miss Universe is hosted by Mario Lopez and Olivia Culpo in Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and aired Sunday, May 16, 2021 (17 May in Manila, Philippines).

3rd Runner-Up India – Adline Castelino

We’ve seen many protest in the recent days. I want to point out the protests women have made throughout the years with equal rights. Until today, we are lacking them. Protests help us in raising our voice against what’s happening against inequality. It helps minorities in any democracy to raise their voice. Every right comes with a responsibility, so use it with power”.

4th Runner-Up Dominican Republic – Kímberly Jiménez

During this Pandemic, my country Dominican Repubic has risen 23% poverty rate. For me, being able to be in front of all of you guys, representing Dominican Republic, makes me incredibly proud that it will help my tourism. We, as human beings, have to realize there are so many people out there that need our help and that we can overcome anything”.

Miss Universe 2020 Organization brought 74 women from different country all over the world for the biggest pageant in the world.

All delegates from different nations gathered in Hollywood, Florida Sunday night for a final nights of Miss Universe 2020 featuring from different portion of Swimsuit, Long gown and Final Question and Answer.

Miss Universe 2020 was hosted by Mario Lopez, an American actor, television and radio host and Olivia Culpo, is an American fashion influencer, social media personality and was crowned Miss Universe 2012.

Paulina Vega, Miss Universe 2014 and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss Universe 2017 serves as an expert analyst and Cheslie Kryst, Miss USA 2019 serve as a backstage correspondent.

The first round of the competition is the selection of Top 21 candidate who is previously selected based on the performance for the Preliminary Competition last Friday.

The Top 21 qualifiers battles out for the swimsuit competition, only Top 10 among them will advanced for the Long gown portion. After the evening gown, only Top 5 will advance for the Question and Answer portion.

Selection Committee in Miss Universe 2020

The Miss Universe Organization selected 8 beautiful and successful women who serves as a selection committee for Miss Universe 2020. Two former title holder were included in a selection committee, Brook Lee, Miss Universe 1997 and Zuleyka Rivera. Miss Universe 2006.

The other 6 beautiful selection committee includes;

  • Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line,
  • Deepica Mutyala, beauty entrepreneur,
  • Tatyana Orozco, economist,
  • Keltie Knight, author and TV personality,
  • Sheryl Adkins-Green, Mary Kay marketing chief
  • Arden Cho, Teen Wolf actress.
