Day 2: VP Leni on Vaccine Express program in on-the-go drivers

Manila, Philippines – Vice President Leni Robledo launched Vaccine Express program through drive-thru bakuna service in on-the-go Toda and Pedicab drivers in City of Manila last June 22, 2021.

The Vaccine Express launched by the Office of the Vice President with the partnership of City government of Manila, UBE Express, Seaoil, Smart Communications, and Cultural Center of the Philippines which aims to inoculate our essential workers under A4 priority group against the Corona Virus disease.

On the first day of the Vaccine Express Program, VP Leni said, more than 2,000 Toda and Pedicab drivers had been vaccinated on the Day 1 of the program.

“More than 2,000 vaccinated sa Day 1 ng ating OVP #VaccineExpress sa Manila! Ang saya makita ng ngiti ng mga TODA at pedicab drivers at delivery riders na nakapagpabakuna sa ating drive-thru service,” VP Leni said.

And on the second day of the Vaccine Express Program, VP Leni announced that more than 4,500 individuals were done with the 1st dose of vaccines.

“4,599 individuals ang nabakunahan natin sa #VaccineExpress – Manila!! Nag drive-thru lang, 1st dose done na para sa ating TODA/pedicab drivers at delivery riders,” VP Leni said.

VP Leni tweeted that she spent the whole afternoon in the vaccination site at Cultural Center of the Philippines last June 23, 2021. She personally thanked the doctors, nurses and volunteers who were on duty on the said activity.

VP Leni also announced that TODA and Pedicab drivers were offered Php 500.00 gas card incentive with exchange of the vaccine jab to the drivers.

“Para mahikayat yung ating TODA drivers and Grab delivery drivers na magpabakuna, nakipag partner po kami sa SEAOIL Foundation para mabigyan ng libreng P500 gas card ang bawa’t isang driver na magpapabakuna ngayong araw. As of 12 noon, nasa 900 drivers na ang nagpa bakuna,” VP Leni said.

The OVP team thanked the City Government of Manila especially to Mayor Isko Moreno who are being supportive since the program has been launched.

She also thanked the screeners, vaccinators, volunteer doctors, nurses, and other medical staff, to UST College of Nursing, FEU and UP Manila who truly helped with the program.

VP Leni gives credit to the Cultural Center of the Philippines for allowing them to use the vaccination site of the said activities. She also thanked to the Philippine Army, PNP and Coast Guard who helped the activity all throughout the vaccination program.

VP Leni advised to the drivers, ”Yung mga hindi pa po naka avail, puwede kayo pumunta bukas. Ipaalam niyo lang sa inyong TODA President o sa mga Team Leaders para makapag register kayo and mabigyan ng QR Codes na kailangan bago kayo mabakunahan.”

Mayor Isko Moreno together with VP Leni said, they also plan to vaccinate all vendors in City of Manila.

Mayor Isko said to reporters, “Ito talaga, idea nila ito na mag-create ng additional effort to help local government units like the City of Manila. And we’re very grateful with all the logistics given to us by the Office of the Vice President”.
“Ngayon, nakikita ninyo nagbenepisyo iyong mga economic drivers natin and we’re very happy and excited na ito, matutuloy bukas at iyong kanina,” he added.

Meanwhile, Senators Leila De Lima commended the Vice President for launching the program of Vaccine Express for essential workers especially in on-the-go Pedicab and Toda drivers in Manila.

“Kudos to VP Leni and her office for coordinating with the City Government of Manila and the private sector to ensure that essential workers have timely and easy access to COVID-19 vaccine. Saludo rin tayo sa mga volunteers na matiyagang tumulong upang mabakunahan ang marami nating kababayan”.
