Do we have face-to-face classes in 2021-2022?

While many are asking about the chances of having face-to-face classes in School Year 2021-2022, the Department of Education (DepEd) thru Secretary Leonor Briones said that they are also eyeing for the possibility of doing so.

In a pre-SONA virtual presser, Secretary Briones said,

“All those who are interested in education know the importance and the significance of face-to-face sessions. The children need it, the teachers need it, the parents need it, the schools need it”

However, the final decision on resumption of the face-to-face classes will come from the President.

“I already said that it is the President’s decision on the opening of classes, etc., which will determine the degree to which we will be able to pilot the possibilities of face-to-face classes”

The opening of classes for SY 2021-2022 will be on September 13, 2021.

Secretary Briones is still hopeful to pilot the face-to-face classes upon assurance of Secretary Carlito Galvez (vaccine czar) to vaccinate the teachers, among others.

“Secretary Galvez gave us an assurance that they will try by August perhaps at the latest, if our youth, in particular ages, and our teachers can be vaccinated, we can probably consider what we always proposed and that is to pilot face-to-face”

Postponement of face-to-face classes

Prior to the release of the date of opening of classes, DepEd already released a statement saying that the President decided to postpone the face-to-face mode of teaching in basic education due to the emergence of COVID-19 variants in the country.

To quote,

“In light of the emergence of contagious variants of COVID-19 in the country, the Department of Education (DepEd) will follow the decision of the President to postpone the implementation of limited face-to-face classes in low-risk areas. Enhanced blended learning will continue to be implemented.”

Meanwhile, DepEd assured the public that they will continue to deliver excellent and quality education despite the distance learning mode.

“Nonetheless, we will continue to prepare and improve the delivery of quality education no matter what the circumstances will be in the coming months. While we remain optimistic to open schools when our situation improves, we are ready to fulfill our constitutional mandate in supporting our learners and teachers in any form of learning available.”

It’s depend upon the situation, bec.there are some areas.in the country. which we can say that almost covid free.for the people lives there follows the rules and have a great dicipline to fight and avoid the pandemic.while in other areas there are so many people who what we call “pasaway” so they cannot .for them as long as they were happy on what their doing.they don’t bother what will be the consequences of gathering they done.so how can the president say yes.in face to face class in that area. One example is Caloocan.

No more face to face classes. My 8th grade son has learned a lot more than before the pandemic. He became more organized and attentive in his reading and answering all modules from school. My wife’s active or close guidance is more effective than school teachers effort.

ASIDE FROM FACE TO FACE CLASS, DEPED MUST PURSUE THE MODULAR SYSTEM OF LEARNING DUE TO PARENTS SPENDING QUALITY TIME, ACTUAL OR VIRTUAL, IN GUIDING THEIR CHILDREN TO STUDY WHILE STAYING AT HOME SAFELY.

I do not agree in that face-to-face class because we all know that it is dangerous, virus is everywhere so it will have the possibility to spread again. Caution is not bad. Protect each other please.

PINAYAGAN NA ANG BATA NA MAMASYAL SA MGA OUTDOOR PLACES. KITA NAMAN NATIN NA MADALAS LUMABAS TALAGA ANG BATA. WALA LANG. NASA TAO NAMAN KASI ANG SAGOT. BE RESPONSIBLE AND DISCIPLINED. PWEDE ANG F2F CLASSES TO THOSE PLACES NA LOW-RISK AREAS. IT MUST BE IMPLEMENTED NOT PROHIBITED. DEPED SAID “WE WILL ENSURE THAT QUALITY AND EXCELLENT EDUCATION WILL BE DELIVER AND SERVE”, EH ANO AT THE END, ANG MGA FRESH GRADUATES? QUALITY RIN KAYA?

I do believe in the effectiveness of the face to face classes, however it should be implemented if there’ll be a 100% assurance for the healthy of students, as well as, the teachers. The only thing we can do now, is to pray for the pandemic to end for good.
