DOT allows 13 staycation hotels in NCR Plus to open

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Tourism announced on Tuesday, May 18 that thirteen (13) staycation hotels in the National Capital Region (NCR) or a total of  5,986 rooms will be allowed to operate to welcome guest s while the Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal are remains a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.

To quote from DOT Undersecretary Benito Bengzon in an interview with PTV Laging Handa press briefing,

Dito sa NCR Plus, while we are under GCQ with heightened alert, pwede po ang staycation at meron po tayong 13 hotel dito sa NCR with a total room capacity of 5,986 na nakapag comply sa requirements ng DOT

Nakakuha na sila ng certificate of authority to operate for staycation

“While the IATF allowed our request to permit leisure travel under the current quarantine condition, we would like to remind everyone that the health and safety of our guests and tourism workers remain the utmost priority. These staycation hotels, all of which are star-rated, have the capacity and have been inspected and oriented on the new normal protocols to ensure this,” Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat added.

Pursuant to DOT Administrative Order No. 2020-006-A, amending the guidelines on the operations of accommodation establishments for staycation purposes under a GCQ, the DOT has released an Advisory on the Operational Guidelines for Accommodation Establishments (Advisory No. 5 s. 2021) until May 31, 2021.

Here are the 13 hotels in NCR that are allowed for staycation:

  • Grand Hyatt Hotel
  • Okada Manila Hotel
  • Shangri-la at the Fort
  • Nobu Hotel
  • Joy Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila
  • EDSA Shangri-la Manila
  • Solaire Resort
  • Hyatt Regency
  • Nuwa Hotel of City of Dreams
  • The Peninsula Manila
  • Aruga by Rockwell
  • Sheraton Manila Hotel
  • Hilton Manila

The DOT reminded the public that the staycation guests must be from within the NCR Plus area, and must not be below 18 and above 65 years old.
