After so many years of waiting, we are finally going to get another Eraserheads reunion concert, and it’s only several weeks away. Although the band had a rocky start due to ticket pricing, the fans still pulled through, as evidenced by the sold-out ticket sale within four days in early October. However, is it true that the “Huling El Bimbo – Eraserheads Reunion Concert 2022” be the band’s last performance?
Ang Huling El Bimbo/Reunion Concert
The short and direct answer is within Ely Buendia’s (the frontman of Eraserheads) manager, Diane Ventura’s statement: “Yes, this is indeed the last reunion.” WEU President Francis Lumen proves this with his own sentiment, “This will be the last reunion of the group. That’s why we want to give the fans one last epic show.“
Even Ely Buendia was pretty vocal about their upcoming reunion concert being their last in his latest interview. He said, “Because we love our fans, we want to give them something different here. It’s the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, and we also want them to have a special memory of Eraserheads as we move forward.”
This concert might be the band’s last, but Buendia’s statement, together with Ventura and Lumen’s affirmations, show that they’re making extraordinary efforts to make the fans’ experience worthwhile. For their old and new fans, they will surely make this last reunion concert end with a bang.
Concert Venue Expansion
To show how much the band appreciates its fans, they announced that they would expand the venue capacity at the SMDC Festival Grounds to accommodate more on December 22, 2022.
This is excellent news for those fans who couldn’t buy the tickets on time. More fans will also be able to experience the exciting events that Eraserheads has in store. Concert Director Paolo Valenciano even said that fans should watch out for the drone show and hologram of the late Francis M.
Valenciano also said, “Mounting an Eraserhead’s show is no easy feat. But this is no ordinary show. It’s their last and final act in the Philippines; that’s why we are making sure it’s a show that would etch in the memories of all of us fans, me included.”
The “Last” Reunion Concert
Let that sink in for a moment. This reunion concert will be the last time the people will see Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro play together live. With how much influence Eraserheads had over the years, there will be fellow artists and fans of their music that will be emotional. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Eheads was part of the musicians who defined Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
Even the most mundane stories about a sari-sari store, about wanting to learn how to drive, or just about something you saw in a magazine can sound so epic through their music. The love songs that they composed can still capture the hearts of many. Whatever their song may be, it is always an assurance that they will invoke nostalgia and happiness. Furthermore, Eraserheads have a lot of revivable songs that professional and amateur artists are excited to cover.
The sold-out ticket proves that a single area cannot contain the enormous amount of fans that Eraserheads have. December 22 hasn’t even come yet, but the hype for the concert echoed as soon as it was announced. So, for those Eheads fans who have money to spare, you still have a chance to buy a ticket now.
