Manila, Philippines – Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo proposes on Saturday, July 10 to the government to allocate Php 10,000 monthly stipend for mothers regardless of their civil and employment status.
Panelo came up with the proposal which covers housewives, single mothers and even working moms of giving monthly stipend to all Filipino moms who worked extravagantly for the needs of their families.
During his commentary show “Counterpoint”, Panelo said that “it is right to grant a monthly stipend to all moms, as the 1987 Philippines Constitution mandates to serve and protect all Filipino citizens”.
“If I will be given a chance, there must be a law that will provide a regular monthly allowance for mothers like P10,000. Regardless of whether they have husbands or not” Panelo said in his commentary show “Counterpoint”.
“Ano ba ‘yung bigyan natin ng PHP10,000 na regular allowance ang mga ina ng tahanan. Oh eh di meron silang paglalaanan kung anuman ang gagastusin nila”, he added.
Panelo expressed hope that a bill offering monthly remittance to all Filipino moms would be created. He also expressed concern that many moms are suffering from mental illness, with some of them committing suicide because they could not manage financial responsibilities while focusing on the needs of their families.
“‘Yung iba diyan, nagsu-suicide pa dahil walang mapagkukunan ng pera, walang mapag-utangan”, he said.
Moms would be more comfortable if they received a monthly stipend from the government.
“Kung meron ho silang allowance buwan-buwan na tatanggapin sa gobyerno, oh eh di medyo kumportable, hindi na sila mag-iisip, ‘di ba?” he added.
Panelo also said that moms should give also special allowances same as those given to health care workers.
“If there are special allowances for senior citizens who have reached their 100th birthday, and special allowance for healthcare workers, mothers do not have that,” Panelo said.
What can you say about giving monthly income/salary for all moms in the Philippines?
