PAGASA Weather Update Today September 1, 2022: Super Typhoon Henry Forecast

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) releases the latest weather update on Super Typhoon Henry on Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Following bad weather conditions today, here are the updates as well as the forecast for Super Typhoon Henry. As per the latest report posted by PAGASA on September 1, 2022, issued at 4:00 AM, quote,

At 3:00 AM today, the center of the eye of Super Typhoon “HENRY” {HINNAMNOR} was estimated based on all available data at 560 km East of Itbayat, Batanes (23.5°N, 126.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 230 km/h. It is moving Southwestward at 25 km/h. Meanwhile, Tropical Depression “GARDO” was estimated based on all available data at 920 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon (24.2°N, 130.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving Northwestward at 45 km/h.

Despite the fact that Super Typhoon Henry (Hinnamnor) is not expected to make landfall, the tropical cyclone may begin to affect Batanes and Babuyan Islands on Thursday, September 1.

Super Typhoon Henry has maximum sustained winds of 185km/h from the previous maximum sustained winds of 195km/h while its gustiness is now 230 km/h from its previous of 240 km/h.

Here is the expected rainfall forecast for Super typhoon Henry from PAGASA.

September 1, 2022 (afternoon to evening forecast)

  • Batanes and Babuyan Islands – light to moderate to heavy rain (at times)

September 2, 2022 (morning to evening forecast)

  • Batanes and Babuyan Islands – moderate to heavy rain

September 3, 2022 (morning to evening forecast)

  • Batanes – moderate to heavy rains
  • Babuyan Islands – light to moderate rain to heavy rain (at times)

PAG-ASA issued a warning of isolated to scattered floods and landslides.

No typhoon warning signals were raised.

Forecast Weather Conditions in the Philippines

Here are the forecast weather conditions in the Philippines as of September 1, 2022:

  • Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Batanes, Cagayan, Zambales, and Bataan will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to STY Henry trough/ southwest monsoon which may cause flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
  • The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms which may cause flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
