PNP COVID-19 Death Toll, Now at 58

MANILA, Philippines – In a Facebook post dated May 7, 2021, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that there are now 58 deaths in the department due to COVID-19.

The 58th fatality is a 47year old male Police Corporal assigned in Maguindanao.

According to PNP Health Service, the cop was rushed to hospital due to high fever and cough. He was then underwent RT-PCR test and tested positive.

The Police officer is a immuno-compromised due to Diabetes. Due to Acute Respiratory Failure, he passes away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

PNP Chief Debold Sinas expressed his condolences to the bereave family of the police office.

To quote from PNP Chief Sinas statement,

“To our police officers with a comorbidity, always check your health and double your protection, if you feel any symptoms, immediately seek the advice of a medical practitioner. To protect others, start taking care of your self first,”

PNP Chief Sinas on a separate statements said, “I would like to remind all our personnel to double your protection against this virus, as one of the frontliners, the people and of course your family need you. If you are not feeling well, immediately seek medical attention. Avail of the free consultation”.

As of May 6, 2021, there were 87 new recorded additional cases of Covid-19 in PNP department bringing the total number of cases to 20,963. 136 were recorded new recoveries. Complete details are presented in the table below.

COVID Latest Info in the Philippines

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the Philippines is now at 1,080,172 with recorded 6,637 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

6% or 63,170 of the total cases in the Philippines were active from which 22,877. 6,091 were recorded new recoveries bringing the total recoveries to 999,011.

DOH said that 191 were recorded new deaths giving a total death toll to 17,991.

DOH likewise reminded the public to practice the use of protective measures such as wearing mask and wearing face shield.
