QC: 56 areas are now under granular lockdown due to COVID-19

Manila, Philippines – The 56 areas in Quezon City has been placed under the Special Concern Lockdown Areas (SCLA) or granular lockdown. An estimated 2,600 families or 4,650 individuals will be affected.

According to the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), the granular lockdown imposed in 56 districts in the City government of QC is only in place on specific streets, not the entire barangay or community.

The city government of QC has assured the affected people and families that they will receive food and other necessities.

Pursuant to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health, the granular will last for 14 days.

The city government is aiming to control the spread of Covid-19 by imposing preemptive lockdowns. Given the widespread transmission of the Delta variant across the country, QC Mayor Joy Belmonte encourages her residents to strictly follow health protocols and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) guidelines.

“We remind our QCitizens to continue following minimum health standards and to immediately get themselves vaccinated. The city will continue to expand its vaccination program to achieve full population protection as soon as possible,” Mayor Belmonte said.
