Manila, Philippines – Albay 2nd District Representative Joey Salceda said on Wednesday that there is “no doubt in his mind” that Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio of Davao will run for Presidential race in 2022 elections.
Salceda said it was clear that Sara will run for 2022 election based on her text messages.
“There’s no doubt in my mind based on our exchange of chats and this has been long running that she will definitely run in 2022,” Joey Salceda said in an interview in ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.
“Nagpaalam ako sa kanya kasi ang dami na, simula 2 weeks ago, kinukulit na po talaga ako at tumatanggi ako, sabi ko baka dapat ikaw na. Sabi niya, ‘ikaw na muna.” he said.
“The Davao City mayor is going through the process of building alliances,” he added.
“I think if you look at the current lay of the land, it’s possible that she will run unopposed,” he said.
Sara Duterte-Carpio is topped on the recent survey on presidential candidates but she consistently denied in eyeing the same footsteps as his father.
According also to Salceda in his interview in One PH, “I’m sure that Sara will run”.
“Marami akong exchange of texts with her and I can tell you that she is really running,” Salceda said.
“There is no other way of interpreting it…Isang basa ko lang ng mga chat, talagang she is running. And my sources say that…there are alliances being formed for her candidacy in 2022,” he added.
“I will say that empathically, she will run.” Salceda said.

In latest Pulse Asia survey, Sara “Inday” Duterte is the leading for the presidential candidate in 2020 election with 27% voter preference. This nationwide survey based on a sample of 2,400 representative aged 18 above in areas of Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Second on the lead with 13% voter preference is Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos. Third on the leads was shared by two, Grace Poe and Francisco “Isko” Moreno with 12% voter preference.
Meanwhile, Leni Robredo an opposition and eyeing for the Presidency in 2022 is in the 6th place with 7% voter preference.
