MANILA, Philippines –The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation may collect an additional 2-3% fee increase starting Tuesday, May 18, 2021 following the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) review with consistent regulatory procedures.
According to the NLEX Corporation, the said increase is based on the approved periodic adjustment from 2012 and 2014, or seven years ago.
The adjustment is part of the approved periodic adjustments due in 2012 and 2014, or seven years ago. TRB and NLEX agreed to implement the increase on a staggered basis to cushion the impact of the adjustments
The implementation of toll increase will take effect on Tuesday, May 18 @ 12:01 midnight.
This means that additional ₽ 2.00 will be charge for Class 1 vehicles in the open system (VAT included) and an additional ₽ 6.00 will be charge for Class 1 vehicles for the entire end to end NLEX journey.
For other classes of vehicle, the NLEX Corporation said that the minimal increase within the open system will translate to an additional of ₽ 3.00 for Class 2 including buses and small commercial trucks, and ₽ 4.00 for Class 3 including large trucks/trailers.
The open system, where a flat rate is charged per entry, includes Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Meycauayan City and Marilao, Bulacan. On the other hand, the closed system is between Bocaue, Bulacan and Mabalacat City, Pampanga
In short, motorist who travel from end to end between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City, Pampanga will be charged an additional of ₽ 6.00, ₽ 14.00 or ₽ 16.00 depending on the classes of vehicle you have.
Despite the reduced road traffic due to the challenging lockdown conditions, the NLEX Corporation has continued to improve and maintain the expressway network to boost motorists’ safety and convenience. The company has also continued to provide quality infrastructure projects that stimulate business activities and overall economic recovery
Amidst on the ongoing improvements, the NLEX Corporation is underway on the regular pavement repair program, one of those is the urgency repairs along strategic bridges.
Meanwhile, the corporation is also undertaking the high impact projects such as:
- RFID system enhancement
- Upgrade of roadway lights
- 8-kilometer NLEX Connector
- Major upgrade of the 5-kilometer Candaba Viaduct
