UPCAT is a yearly admissions exam held by the University of the Philippines (UP) for meritorious students who aspire to study at one of its seven (7) constituent universities and one (1) autonomous college located across fifteen (15) locations across the country.
The University of the Philippines College Application Test is also one of the most popular universities and well-known college entrance tests (UPCAT) in the country. On these campuses, UP offers more than 170 undergraduate degree programs.
While entry to the UP System is extremely competitive, with approximately hundreds of thousands of applications from all over the Philippines each year, with acceptance rates ranging from 15% to 27%, this guarantees that only the brightest students are accepted.
Examination Coverage for UPCAT and Determining UPCAT Score
UPCAT is covered into four (4) subtests. These include Mathematics, Science, Reading Comprehension, and Language Proficiency.
To determine the UP admission grade (UPG), the UPCAT exam result is combined with the weighted average of the last three (3) years of high school final grades. The examinees are then ranked using UPG. Students are then assigned a campus and degree course based on their rating.
